Summary:

Insulation, which is the total of the treatment transactions, against various factors to

reduce or to remove completely the permeability of structure element, is directly related

with structure, environment and human health. Building insulation is a whole system

which should be treated meticulously from material production to implementation, which

needs versatile detail study and which concerns many branches of science.

In recent years, development that has been occured particularly in types of building

materials, has also been seen at the materials which are produced with the aim of

insulating. Insulation materials which have diffrent types and features are used for the

insulation of heat, sound, water, steam, fire safety and to fill sutures.

The usage possibility of plastic insulation materials at the structure is examined in

this study and purpose of this study is, to examine plastic insulation materials in detail and

to evaluate the possibilities of the use of these materials in context of techniques, usage,

application features.

This study has been addressed only in plastic-based insulation materials, used in

conjunction with other types of materials are left outside the scope.

Thesis consists of general information, studies, findings, examination and results

sections. In general information section, the purpose and scope of work described, the

concept of insulation and insulation materials, plastic materials and plastic insulation

materials are discussed. In the acted studies section, plastic insulation materials, which are

subject of this study, have been identified and an analysis form, which shows technical

usage and implementation specifications, has been constituted by the data obtained from

literature study and preliminary researches.

The obtained data about usage possibilities of the plastic insulation materials at

structure have been evaluated and these data have been examined from various angles in

the section of findings and examination. In the conclusions and recommendations section,

the information obtained in accordance with the conclusions reached have been placed and

recommendations have been given.
