Summary:

Vertical green systems are plant based architectural applications and they contain many components and entities as they are systems. In current architecture terminology, for vertical green systems, namings are done such as vertical gardens, green facades and vertical green place systems. Such namings are not able to meet the definition of the system as an architectural concept. Also in some namings, the sub-types of this system are described.

In fact, the vertical green system applications dating back to ancient times has incresed in recent years. The reasons of this are living architecture and ecological architecture which gradually strengthen their importancenowadays. System materials, improvement and diversification of components and elements, the material manufacturer, system designer, and also the contributions of the practitioners play a crucial role in this increase.

In this study, given concept of vertical green system; the differences between the kinds of the system and its usage possibilities; plot construction and stratification, vegetation, water need have been aimed to determine in terms of usage possibilities and the application performed for the two sub-types of the system and system samples have been analyzed in the context of these criteria.

The study consists of four chapters: general information, studies, findings and discussions, and results.

General information section gives general information about the vertical green systems using the information obtained from source studies.

In the studies, the application samples have been analyzed and evaluated. Using the information obtained, an application study has been done for the two sub-types of the system aiming for the facework and the performances of these systems generated as a result of this study have been varified by observation and various data has been obtained.

The third chapter, findings and discussion, reveals the findings obtained from analyzed sample structures, the observation results obtained from the application study and the results were evaluated comparatively with the information in the literature.

The fourth chapter gives the results obtained.
