| Summary: To prevent destroying of characteristic pattern of rural area in the Black Sea Region, it is aim to generate new housing suggestions which can be guide for people, provide sustainability of traditional life and supply requirements of the day. The study has four main chapters.In the first chapter; purpose and content of the study are explained, geographical and cultural dimensions of location concept in specific to Eastern Black Sea Region are evaluated by studying location concept in architecture. In the second chapter; formation/design criteria of rural area housing of Eastern Black Sea Region are determined by studying traditional life and architecture of Eastern Black Sea Region. Basic principles for the new housing design are selected from determined criteria. In the direction of these principles system suggestions which are developed horizontally and vertically are created for the new housing design special to Eastern Black Sea Region rural area. In the third chapter; findings of the created system suggestion are given.In the fourth chapter; results and suggestions are taken place. Through literature and all evaluations, different type housing suggestions, which are suitable for vernacular character in Eastern Black Sea Region rural area and be able to answer the requirement of traditional and modern life, are generated.
