| Summary: In this study, was researched for general features of wind catcher in the Yazd city of Iran. According to the result carried out in the historic city of Yezd wind catcher structures, which have been identified and samples were taken of housing used with new functionality. In the study of wind catcher houses, the number of rigs operating conditions and also size, location types, and pane types of plans are considered. 45% of the results obtained in this regard had the two towers. 19% these wind towers are just determined to be operating. According to the average size of wind catcher were made 6.7 m in length, 2.1 m in depth and width of 3.0 m. Most brick in the building of the catcher as a material has emerged the use of adobe and wood bar. According of the analysis 65% of the wind catcher are the behind the talar and it is positioned in a symmetrical manner with talar. The most wind catcher was observed rectangular (78%) in plan types and (71%) + partitions.
