Summary:

The aim of the study is the investigation of using possibilities of the plywood panels manufactured from some wood species grown in Turkey on the safety wooden buildings. In addition, the plywood properties and the type and number of fasteners are modeled according to the place of use and the desired structural performance and the results obtained from the wall experimentally are optimized. Three different wood species, two different number of plywood layers, two different plywood fiber direction, two different fastener types, two different distance between fasteners and phenol formaldehyde adhesive was used in this study. Bonding strength, bending strength and modulus of elasticity, lateral nail strength test and density of plywood panels manufactured from 2 mm thickness veneer in industrial plant were determined according to related standards. The seismic resistant performance of the shear walls produced in one-to-one dimensions was determined according to ASTM E 72 standard and maximum load capacity and maximum displacement for each group were obtained. The model established with the SAP2000 program is compared with the data obtained from the structural behavior tests performed on individual dimensions and the results were found to overlap with each other. In addition, artificial neural networks (ANN) model was established and the shear wall groups in the scope of the study were optimized.
