Summary:

      Small and medium sized establishments which play an important role in decreasing development differences among the regions are affected negatively due to the problems caused by their own structures and external environmental conditions. With production and management flexibility, these establishments are in a very effective position in market structures, income distribution, employment opportunities in developed and developing countries each having different characteristics.

      In this study, current situation and structural analysis of small and medium sized establishments in forest product industry were investigated in 63 towns and cities in 6 provinces in the East Blacksea Region. The region is relatively less developed than many other region in Turkey. The study was realized by utilizing questionnaire forms. The questionnaire forms were filled in by face to face communication method. Its a result a total of 341questionnaire forms were filled out in 63 locations.

      Results revealed that management functions in small and medium sized establishments in forest product industry at Eastern Blacksea Region have not been utilized as efficiently and effectively as they should have been. Statistical analysis also showed that the locations surveyed could be classified into 5 homogeneous groups with respect to structural analysis.
