Title of the Thesis: THE INVESTIGATION ON REMEDIATION OF OUT OF SERVICE CCA TREATED UTILITY POLES
Level: Ph.D.
Acceptance Date: 30/9/2003

Summary:

The climate index and decay maps of Trabzon, Rize and Artvin were determined by analyzing climate data for each city.

The soil mechanical properties, soil pH and soil water holding capacity were investigated in soil samples taken from Trabzon, Rize and Artvin cities and their effects on time in service of utility poles were determined.

The decay types and fungi species were determined in samples taken either from utility poles in service or out of service utility poles in storage area in Arsin, Trabzon.

The results indicated that choromotropic acid, oleic acid and phosphoric acid were found the best chemicals while ammonium sulfate, humic acid sodium salt and resorcinol were found the least effective, among the 10 chemicals used in this study, in terms of remediation.
