Summary:

Many physical environmental factors in the industrial production environment affect employee performance. One of these factors is noise. The literature surveys showed that the number of studies on noise measurement in the timber industry was insufficient. In this study, noise levels of machines used in plants made timber production in Trabzon province and their impact on employees were determined. For this purpose, the noise levels of the machines at empty and loaded state were measured and the average noise levels were determined. The aim of this thesis is to detect whether the noise levels of the machines used in the timber industry are within the limits specified in the Noise Regulation in the OHS Law No. 6331 adopted in our country and to determine the negative effects of noise on the employees. Measurements were made by recording once every 5 seconds over a 3 minute period at empty and loaded state on each machine. In addition, ambient noise was determined by making measurements in the middle and entrance of the plants. In this study, the lowest and highest Exposure Action Value of Regulation No 28721 on the Protection of Employees from Risks Related to Noise adopted in our country was taken as reference. For the analysis of the results obtained, SPSS and MS Excel programs were used.

As a result of the study, it was determined that the noise levels of all the machines in the timber manufacturing plants were higher than the highest Exposure Action Value.
