Summary:

As physical properties; density, moisture content, thickness swelling and water absorption rate, as mechanical properties; modulus of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE), internal bonding (IB) and screw-holding strength, as biological properties; decay test and also pH were determined.

Chemical modification of boards reacted with anhydrides resulted in improved physical, mechanical and biological properties. The best results were determined boards reacted with acetic anhydride. Maleic anhydride treated boards gave the lowest values.
