Summary: In this study, spruce wood (Picea orientalis) and alder (Alnus glutinosa) log seed produced in plywood plant were used as a wood raw material. Portland cement (PC 32,5 and 42,5) with 0-5-10-15 percent of drinking water sludge which purpose to decrease cement use were used as a bonding materials in the laboratory manufacture. Physical and mechanical properties of wood-cement particleboards were determined Wood particles were used with pre-treatment or non-pre treatment methods. Wood particles left to soak for 24 h in pretreatment method and after soaking water, wood particles were air-dried spreading out in the floor. Thus the proportion of simple sugar in the wood particles were tried to decrease. The mechanical properties of panels such as bending strength, modulus of elasticity, internal bond, and physical properties such as density, moisture, thickness swelling, and water absorption and were determined. Before producing the panels, chemical properties of wood particles such as cold water, hot water, alcohol-benzene, %1 NaOH and pH level were examined. According to the results, physical properties of wood cement particleboards met the standard values but mechanical properties. However some panel properties met the standard values with using cold water pretreatment method. Furthermore, the panel properties were decreased with used amount of water sludge.Key words: Wood Cement Particleboard, Portland Cement, Spruce, Alder, Pre-treatment, Physical, Mechanical and Chemical Properties. |
