Summary:

      In this study, hot pres diagram (entrance and exit pressure of hot pressing and band speed) and effect of usage of emery dust on the physical (density profile, moisture amount and thickness increasing ratio) and mechanical (modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and internal band strength) properties of particleboard were examined.

According to the results; increasing entrance pressure of hot pressing made a positive effect on the avereage density, surface density, thickness swelling, modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity properties. On the other hand, increasing exit pressure of hot pressing, positively affected the average density, density of core, thickness swelling and internal bond strength. By increasing entrance and exit pressure of hot pressing, physical and mechanical properties of panel were improved. Lowering the bond feeding speed of hot press, improved mechanical properties and reduced the thickness swelling.

       While usage of emery dust at a ratio of 5 to 10 percent on the out layer of particleboard did not affect physical and mechanical properties; increasing this ratio to 15 percent improved the thickness swelling and lowered the modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity.
