Summary: In this study, adhesion resistance of varnish applied to some wood species naturally growing in Turkey were searched. For this purpose hardwood species (oriental beech), coniferous wood species (oriental spruce) and polyurethane in surface treatment systems, cellulosic and acrylic varnish were used. The standard sizes were measured air dry (12 percentage) density of prepared samples in standard sizes, dry film thickness and adhesion strength as applied surface treatment varnishes were investigated. As a result, according to wood species the highest film thickness of polyurethane varnish was obtained. According to adhesion resistance of the varnish types; polyurethane varnish 3,22 N/mm2 , acrylic varnish 1,96 N/mm2 and cellulosic varnish 0,80 N/mm2 values were obtained. The adhesion resistance belonging to wood species of the showed higher values than oriental beech.
