Summary:

      In this thesis, the effect of using pumice powder and plasticizer on the some properties of wood cement particleboard was investigated. Therefore, 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% pumice powder and 0‰, 4‰, 8‰, 12‰ plasticizer used, respectively. Samples were subjected to moisture content (TS EN 322), density (TS EN 323/1), water absorption and thickness swelling (ASTM D1037, TS EN 317), thermal conductivity (ASTM C 1113-09), modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity (TS EN 310) and internal bond strength ( TS EN 319) tests. Using pumice powder has an important possitive effect on the water absorption and thickness swelling but density didn’t change. In general with increasing use of pumice powder, modulus of elasticity and internal bond strength were increased, while modulus of rupture and thermal insulation properties were decreased. Using plasticizer 4‰ and 8‰, have a positive effect on dimensional stability, modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, internal bond strength and thermal insulation properties of the boards. Despite the fact that the use of 12‰ plasticizer weaken effect on resistance properties, however increased thermal insulation properties. The study demonstrated that the board made of pumice powder and plasticizer meet requirement for general purpose and building meterials.
