Summary:

      With industrialization, work accidents and occupational diseases, which cause thousands of people to become disabled, unable to work or lose their lives each year, are increasingly important. In recent years, there has been a concern about occupational health and safety, legislation, and also the work of consciousness in workplaces. In this study, it is aimed to examine the occupational health and safety consciousness of workers in the forest products sector. In the first part of the study; the historical development of occupational health and safety, purpose and importance, classification of occupational accidents and diseases, causes and their results have been examined. In addition, some SSI (Social Security Institution) statistics on occupational accidents and occupational diseases in the forest products sector have been given in recent years. In the second and third part of the study, a questionnaire form was prepared and analyzed in order to determine how the employees in the forest industry sector were perceived and evaluated at the forest industry sub-sector level (paper, board industries, timber and furniture). A total of 470 employees working in 8 factories participated in the survey. SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) statistical package program and MS Excel package programs were used for the analysis of survey results. In evaluating of the data; frequency distributions, descriptive factor analysis, reliability analysis, independent two-sample t-test, simple variance analysis and correlation analysis were used. According to results; occupational health and safety consciousness was different depend on education status, gender, age range occupational accident records and sub-sectors.
