Summary:

In this study, it was investigated the durability of alder (Alnus glutinosa subsp. barbata) wood under external conditions. Alder has been found in the Black Sea region but it has been chosen because it has no industrial value. On the other hand, in order to compare the results, Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.), which is frequently used in the industry and has a very widespread distribution in our country, has been used as reference tree species. When the wood materials are not protected with a preservative and the species

which is not suitable for the outdoor conditions are selected, their economic and physical life are very limited. Wood materials can be impregnated with different chemical techniques by using protective techniques to extend their life and to improve their qualities. Celcure AC 500 and Tanalith E were used as impregnation agents. The environmental conditions (soil contact, above ground and actual crop), biological(Coniophora puteana and Poria placenta rot fungi) and the leaching properties of the test samples impregnated with these substances were examined. In outdoor conditions, moisture changes, surface roughness and color measurements have been determined as increases and decreases due to seasonal differences. The weight loss of the test groups impregnated with Celcure AC 500 and Tanalith E in all variations in terms of rot fungi was lower than the control groups. Analytically, the lowest leaching and copper ratios were found in the Scotch wood when both impregnates were generally evaluated.
