Summary:

The application of urban green network can be considered at two stages of planning. The first stage is the inclusion of green spaces that are important for ecology, climate, recreation and urban landscape-design functions to master plan or revision plan during planning process. The formation of green network at this stage reducing the cost of application due to land potential advantages will provide economic benefits. The second stage is to defining areas crucial for ecology, climate, recreation and urban landscape-design functions make efforts to build green network in already planned areas by making necessary plan revisions.

This study develops a methodology defining important areas to the functions of green network, provides survey and strategic evaluation technique (SWOT). It covers the guiding question sheets, which include three stage analyses such as pre analysis, detailed analysis and synthesis. The objective is to develop a time saving guidance to assist the planners and municipalities in developing green network in their master planning.

The question sheets are designed not only for building green network at urban scale but also national, regional and sub regional scales. The methodology is tested by applying in an urban division of Trabzon.
