Summary:

      The plants at planting works in rural-arid areas where ecological difficulties are much can be protected from the drying effects by additive of organic materials, watering and caring consistently. This causes money and workforce loosing. Also the natural balance gets spoilt by too much fertilizing. The plants wither because of these applications can not be done or uncompleted in many areas or planting works failure as the result of they don’t show good growing. Water matter and aridity has started getting a big threat for the plants even excluding in the problematic areas by resulting of global warming and significant air temperature increase in summer at the present time. In this dissertation it is emphasized that the discoverable problems can be reduced at the very least by using mycorrhizal plants in planting works at problematic areas. In this work, mycorrhiza effects are experienced on Forsythia x intermedia and Cotoneaster franchetti plants which are preferred at landscape architecture designs because of their functional and esthetic species.

This study consists of two phases. In the first phase, the effects of inoculation with mycorrhiza on plant growth are determined under glasshouse and different plant growing medium. In the second phase, the plants taken from glasshouse conditions are planted to application areas. The surviving situations and growing of mycorrhizal and nonmycorrhizal plants are studied in these application areas under different climate conditions.

       At the end of this dissertation study, it is determined that mycorrhiza is encouraging the plants growth in different application areas. It is emphasized that the plants inoculated with mycorrhiza contend under drought condition better in proportion to non inoculated and thus it might be possible to provide the planting sustainability at landscape architecture execution projects.
