| Summary: Nowadays, negative developments such as the increasing negative impacts of urbanization on the natural values with each passing day, the increasing impact of environmental pollution caused by urbanization on human health has motivated all interest groups that make up the city to put forward alternative ideas on creating an ecological city renewal and a livable healthy city and as a result of all these search process have cities and living environments have started to be faced with different city scenarios. One of these approaches is the Cittaslow Movement aimed at creating sustainable living environments in order to increase quality of life in a man-made environment which started in Italy in 1999 and spread to the entire World.
As a newly developing concept in the world and in our country, the cittaslow movement is based upon the locals creating self consciousness for their own region and then creating and sustaining this self-consciousness. In terms of place and those who live in it, this creates high self-consciousness in which sustainable and local identities and traditions are protected.
This research is carried out for the acceptance of the district of Tirebolu Giresun, which has applied for membership in Cittaslow Slow Cities Association,7 criteria and sub criteria required to fulfill the process defined by the task and actions are questioned on the basis of. The implementation of the slow movement is a new developing concept in the world and in our country the understanding of the slow city is associated with the tourism sector. In addition, in this study, in the scope of the Cittaslow concept, which serves the sustainable tourism, preserves the environmental and cultural texture, and places the elements of regional cuisine, music, art and folklore at the forefront, the tourism potential for the district of Tirebolu will be assessed. |
