Summary:

One of the most important parts of the society, physically disabled people, face lots of problems in daily life. One of these problems is the inconvenient design of the urban locations.

Nowadays, it is very hard for these people to reach most of buildings and city locations because of the obstacles on the sidewalls and streets which restrict their mobility. At parks, streets, squares, public buildings, shopping centers, our habitat in brief, we can rarely see someone, able to move on his/her wheelchair independently. Even, this example, alone, shows us the restrictionsons their mobilty.

This study focuses on the necessities of physicallly disabled people and difficulties that they experience in social life such as restrictions at reaching, leaving and using common areas. In addition to that, convenient design alternatives for physically disabled people using wheelchair are researched and the survey results about Trabzon city center is presented.
