Summary:

In the early days when people started to create living spaces for themselves, everything was shaped according to the speed of nature, and daily life began with the sunrise and ended with its sunset. When there were no written rules for designing the city, the city was developing by enriching with the social life of the people. In the 1900s, the industrial revolution emerged as an important actor that would change social life. While cities are going through a rapid change process, cars now take their place in urban life. Changing living conditions bring along different urban planning practices. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the design principles, which are based on capturing the "human scale" in the space production process, through a traditional texture; to evaluate the established/not established relationship in the context of concrete criteria and criteria. In this context, a street in the urban protected area, which preserves the traditional urban texture density in Ortahisar District in the city of Trabzon, has been determined as a study area. Analyzes were made to measure the urban design qualities that were developed within the conceptual framework and that provide the "human scale" dimension, and were evaluated together with the findings of the interview and primary source review in the contextual dimension. As a result of the study, suggestions based on the human scale nature of the urban space were proposed as a basis for space arrangement / urbanism studies.
