Summary:

      Sometimes people ask for their healths in the nature and they never discontinue use

of medicinal plants. Particularly, the exposure of the repercussions of the medicines that

      contained synthetic and chemical products increases the use of medicinal plants. These

medicinal plants are being used in various areas such as spice, pharmaceutical industry,

      beverage, perfume, suap, sweetmeat, cosmetic, toothpaste, chewing gum, fabrication of

healing and refreshing tea, esence aroma etc…Such a big orientation of the people to the

      medicinal plants has created a large market in the world. Some countries are obtaining

gorgeous incomes from the trade of the medicinal plants.

      

research area, the effects of tree diameter, lenght and production period of Pistacia

      lentiscus L. (Gum Mastic Tree) was studied. For this purpose, in 60 gum tree which was

gained by mesuring whole area, gum was gained in 3 diffirent periods between 13th July

      2006 and 28th August 2006.

It was understund that a negative relation 44% statistically between total gum

      amount and tree diameter, there is a negative relation 48% statistically between tree lenght

and total gum amount that means as long as the diameter and lenght of gum tree increases,

      gum yield dicreases. Diffirence was noticed between 3 periods in yield of gum between

periods statistically. The yield dicreases from first period to thirth period.

      For gum mastic tree has many usage area in the world to find its value in our

country, its economic value should be told to public in that region, the stres on on plnat

      should be repressed, gum existence in the region should be determined with suitable

planning and production methods and some mesures should be taken to ensure its

      sustainability.
