Summary:

His investigation named ‘the assesment of Rize and Trabzon’s rural homegardens in terms of the potential of Agroforestry’ deals with the kind variety of rural homegardens of East Black Sea region, agricultural products, forest tree, style of growing fruit trees and getting benefits from homegardens and its’general features. Fort his purpose, in Trabzon and Rize region, in villages and streets, we made this investigation by face to face interactions and observations. We made public surveys with 22 owners of homegardens in Rize, and 26 owners in Trabzon. According to results of public surveys; Region of Rize and the homegardens in the East and South part of Trabzon has been more fertile in terms of plants’kind variety.on the other hand; The average of general plant kind variety in Trabzon is much more than the average in Rize. In rural homegardens in region of Trabzon, number of perennial vegetable and plant variety(23,73) has been much more than the average of the perennial vegetable and plant variety in Rize (20,91). Also, it has been seen that rural homegardens in region of Trabzon has been richer in terms of variety of vegetables and plants in ancient rural homegardens and recent rural homegardens . In Trabzon, hazelnut is grown up with some forest and fruit trees. So the agriculture of vegetables is widespread. It is observed that; with the local opportunities, greenhouses are also widespread in narrow lands. In Rize region, in spite of the fertileness of plant variety, as the land is washed by the rain and lackness of incomes, people higly need additional incomes. Recently, growing kiwis as second product and beekeeping have been very common.
