Summary:

In this study, at the Crimean juniper (Juniperus excelsa Bieb.), Oriental spruce (Picea orientalis (L.) Link.), Stone pine (Pinus pinea L.) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) seedlings, top pruning was made in order to determine susceptibility of seedlings to pruning application used. In addition, fertilizer was applied in order to investigate the effect on the number of shoots, the plant height, crown width, and apical buds from morphological characteristics of seedlings. Analyzes of morphological features of before and after pruning was evaluated at totally 210 seedlings found naturally in our country. When compared with the plant as a result of top pruning, it is seen that development of the plants height is different. In study conducted, Oriental spruce within plants studied has been the kind showing the most height rising as a result of top pruning. Looking at the plant width development, top pruning had effect at the least on Crimean juniper and the most on scots pine and Oriental spruce. Compared in terms of number of shoots on the hill, there is an increase in other species except scots pine and stone pine seedlings grown in polyethylene containers. The greatest improvements were seen at Crimean juniper seedlings. Examined in terms of the number of buds on the top, top pruning gave rise to increase at Oriental spruce (Picea orientalis (L.) and Scots pine seedlings, to decrease in other species. When changes in the morphological structures of plants in terms of fertilization were examined, it appears to be affective on height development of Crimean juniper seedlings, on width development of Crimean juniper, oriental spruce and stone pine seedlings grown in polyethylene containers, on the number of shoots in the top development of stone pine seedlings grown in polyethylene containers and scots pine seedlings, on the number of buds on the top of the all species.
